Mornings at Easton's

Mornings are my favorite time of the day for putzing around on my own and getting in some quite time while the rest of the world is still sleeping or just waking up. Yesterday morning, I happened to wake up extremely early for a Saturday. We're talking 5:30 - a time at which I can't seem to pry myself out of bed during the week. Oh, the irony.

So I found myself wandering around Newport just after the sun rose. I happened to end up at Easton's Beach {aka First Beach} which is one of my favorite places in Newport.

Why is it one of my favorite retreats? Maybe because my family spends Easter eating on this beach every year. Maybe it's because I enjoy watching the surfers catching waves. Or maybe it's because the impressive roar from the ocean at this beach makes you think there is a hurricane coming when it's early in the morning and only walkers and surfers are out.

I really treasure these peaceful moments strolling along the beach before the craziness of the day descends. It's so important to take some quiet time for yourself, even when life doesn't seem to have even two minutes together to allow this. This is something I have to remind myself on a regular basis, but I've been getting better about it since moving to Rhode Island.

I hope your weekend is wonderful. Have a lovely Sunday.

  1. I keep thinking that I would love to be a morning person and be out and about before everyone else is awake, but ... gosh I do love a little sleep-in! On the rare occasions that I manage it, though, it's just such a lovely, peaceful time. It would be beautiful to spend it by the ocean as you have done. Love your photos, especially those of the lines of waves rolling in. Have a wonderful week!
