Friday's Letters

{Flathead Lake, Montana - August 2012}

Dear Belize: Only four short months until I will be basking in the sunshine on your sandy shores. Dear little brother: I am so excited that you are coming home this weekend. After six weeks in the Caribbean I'm sure you can't wait for the arctic temperatures up here :) Dear Cape Cod: I can't wait to spend some QT with you this weekend. It's been far too long. Dear Oklahoma: I can't wait to be back in the land where the wind comes sweeping down the plains in less than two weeks. Dear life: You have been pretty kick @$$ lately. It amazes me everyday how blessed I am. I can't wait to being the new adventures ahead of me!

Dear Blizzard?!

{The Halloween Blizzard of 2011. Using my little ragamuffin as a measuring stick.}

Dear Blizzard: I honestly thought you'd be here already. But as I gaze out my window, the only sign of you is the cloudy, grey sky. I have prepared for your arrival in the form of trail mix, Goldfish, a few bottles of wine and lots of clean sweatpants. Dear fellow New Englanders: Please stay safe in the next few days. Dear power: Please stay on. A week without heat and hot water is a very daunting thought. Dear little brother: I really enjoy getting the random text from you while you are at sea. They always surprise me and make my day. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks. Dear cozy bed: I can't seem to climb out of you right now to start my day. I think I'll stay for just a few minutes longer ;)

Dear Friday

{Pepper checking out the new do}

Dear red shirt: I love your silhouette, but the amount of wrinkles that have happened between putting you on and pouring a bowl of Special K has me frustrated. I will now be known as the girl who rolled out of bed at work. All for a good cause. {Don't forget to wear RED today!} Dear Sunday snowstorm: I'm glad I can enjoy watching you out the window with a book and mug of tea in front of the fire. Dear new bangs: I'm getting rather fond of you. I'd say our two week trial relationship has blossomed into a full-fledged love affair. Dear Punxsutawney Phil: Please don't see your shadow tomorrow. An early spring would be positively lovely.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Dear Winter

{Because an unexpected buffalo picture can make anyone smile. Yellowstone - August 2012}

Dear subzero temperatures: You have overstayed your welcome. I'd like to go back to the 50 degrees we had last week. Please. Thank you. Dear Vermont: I can't wait to see your snow covered slopes in a few hours. It's been far too long. Dear legs: Please don't give up during our 5K snowshoe adventure tomorrow. Windchill of -12 and the fact that you haven't even walked a 5K in the last two months are not excuses for wimping out. Dear Family:  I can't wait to see you this weekend. Life seems to be too busy for all of us lately. Dear winter: You've been fun, but I'm starting to get a bug commonly referred to as spring fever. I'm sure a little mini trip to somewhere warm and exotic would be the perfect remedy :)

Happy Weekend!

Dear Life: You are Wonderful

{An all-too-inviting hammock at the local coffee house}

Dear Friday,

I have been waiting for you for what seems like months.

All I want to do is curl up with a few good books, a pumpkin chai, and my puppy dog for a few days. No phone, no computer, no interruptions.

Nada.

Alas, there are oil changes to be had, commitments that were made and work to be done. But as I think (with a huff and a puff) of all these things keeping me from mindless days and hours of sleep, my heart is happy.

I remember that I have a beautiful life.

 That oil change is for a car that I'm lucky enough to own; that commitment is with a truly beautiful group of teenage girls that are part of the youth group I work with; and that work is for a job that I absolutely love, that brings me excitement, pride and a challenge every day.

All these seemingly pestering things that stand between me and my pillows are things that make me completely happy. I'd choose them over sleep any day.

Friday, you don't bring me rest, but you do bring me joy. I can't wait for this weekend.

xoxo M

Friday's Letters

Photobucket

Dear week: The past five days seemed to never end and fly by at the same time. Why aren't there ever enough hours in a day?

Dear weekend: I could not be more ready for a girls' weekend in Jersey with two of my favorites.

Dear Jersey: Please treat me well. This will be the first time I've ever spent more than an hour or two with you.

Dear parents: Thank you for everything you do for me. Specifically my laundry and having a nice dinner just out of the oven for me when I crawl home after a 15 hour day. Those little things are truly wonderful.

Dear self: I know you've been exposed to absolutely scrumptious eats for the past two weeks, but learn some self control. The scale was not happy with you this morning.

Dear cannoli(s): Don't tell the scale, but you were worth every bite.

Have a lovely weekend!

Friday's Letters

{Middle of Nowhere, Montana}

Dear travel bug: I hope to satisfy you soon. I'm sorry I torture you with hours of stalking researching travel blogs and websites. Maybe a little weekend getaway to NYC or Philly will satiate you a little?

Dear Chipotle: I wish your burrito bowls were not so addicting. Honestly, I could eat one every day for the rest of my life and be happy.

Dear rain and traffic: You made for a very long drive this evening. One good thing about driving a stick is that I feel like my legs get a little bit of a work out during Friday rush hour.

Dear future house/condo: I know you're out there somewhere. I'm just taking my time and waiting until I have that feeling. You know, when you know something/someone is the "one." I am also applying this theory to the dating world.

Dear hair: I'm sorry I never embraced your wild and frizzy wave before 6 months ago. My new favorite thing is not spending 45 minutes attempting to tame you each morning.

Dear new {and old} followers: Thanks so much for your always sweet comments! I love reading them! Thanks for joining me :)

Dear Friday

{Wychmere Harbor}

Dear Friday: Thank you for allowing me to take a breath and catch up with life. I am having the best day with one of my dearest friends.

Dear comfy bed: Thank you for keeping me cozy on this chilly morning. I greatly enjoyed spending some extended time with you today.

Dear outlet malls: I need to learn to stay away from you. However, I can't wait to rock my new sweater skirt and clutch.

Dear weather: I did not prepare well for you this weekend. I needed to bring a jacket with me? Oops..

Dear Ellen: I love that at the end of your show, you always remind us to be kind to each other. Sometimes we are caught up in the trials of the day, and it's easy to forget how we might be impacting others.

Dear new and old friends: Thanks for following my little blog! Your sweet comments have made my week!

Friday's Letters

Dear friends: I miss you more than words can express.

Dear mornings: Thanks for being refreshingly crisp and autumnal this week. Keep it up.

Dear Barry Manilow: I can't wait to sing along with you tonight. I also might be the youngest person in the crowd, but that's OK. I'm a grandma at heart.

Dear self: You really need to work on hitting the snooze button once or twice instead of six times in the morning.

Dear burrito I had for dinner last night: you really hit the spot. I wish I could eat you every night without gaining 3948894 lbs.

Dear Pepper: You are the best little pup in the world. Snuggling with you is my favorite.

{morning snuggles}

Have a beautiful weekend!

Friday's Letters: Hello World Edition

(Boston Harbor Walk a few weeks ago)

Dear Friday: I am thoroughly enjoying your sunshine.

Dear world: You might have thought I'd gone missing. Nope, in fact I've been thriving in my office all hours of the day. Don't worry about me, I'm doing quite well, loving my job. I promise to make an appearance more often.

Dear parents: Thank you for being so incredibly supportive and proud of me. And for doing my laundry.

Dear pomegranate iced tea and yummy hummus sandwich: You are the bestest, tastiest lunch in the world.

Dear My Fitness Pal: Thank you for making me aware of all the garbage I snack on throughout the day. Two weeks and 5 lbs lighter, and I love you more and more each day.

Dear beach: I will miss you this weekend.

Dear followers: Thanks for hanging in there with me. Love you all lots and lots.

Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Thanks, Ashley for hosting the linkup! :)
